Expression variations of two retinoid signaling pathway receptors in the rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus exposed to three endocrine disruptors

چکیده
Endocrine disruption compounds (EDC) are known to affect reproduction, development, and growth of exposed organisms. Although in vertebrates, EDCs mainly act through steroid receptors (e.g. androgen estrogen receptors), their absence many invertebrates suggests the involvement another biological pathway endocrine effects. As retinoid signaling is present almost all Metazoa its gastropods (i.e. imposex) has been demonstrated, work was devoted investigating relative mRNA variations two genes, X receptor (RXR) acid (RAR), freshwater rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus for 6, 12 24 h flutamide, fenitrothion cyproterone acetate, three anti-androgens disrupt sexual reproduction sp. Results revealed that did not levels RXR RAR B. calyciflorus, whereas could be significantly increased by 2 4.5-fold from 7-fold after exposure flutamide respectively. Moreover, effects acetate were measured 6 exposure, Cyproterone caused highest increase levels, probably due progestin activity addition anti-androgenic potential presence a membrane-associated progesterone as reported manjavacas. Consequently, although it still difficult evaluate hormonal pathways involved sp., this appears good starting point try elucidate molecular mechanisms reproductive dysfunction Brachionidae.

Monogonont Rotifer, Brachionus calyciflorus, Possesses Exceptionally Large, Fragmented Mitogenome
In contrast to the highly conserved mitogenomic structure and organisation in most animals (including rotifers), the two previously sequenced monogonont rotifer mitogenomes were fragmented into two chromosomes similar in size, each of which possessed one major non-coding region (mNCR) of about 4-5 Kbp. To further explore this phenomenon, we have sequenced and analysed the mitogenome of one of t...
متن کاملBioaccumulation of atrazine: effects on population growth and reproduction of the rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus fed atrazine-exposed microalgae
Little information is known about bioaccumulation of atrazine or the effects it has on consumers that ingest atrazine-contaminated prey. For that reason, freshwater microalgae Chlorella vulgaris cultures were exposed to different concentrations of atrazine for twenty-four hours and were then used as an exclusive food source for Brachionus calyciflorus for three days with the intent to evaluate ...
متن کاملBiochemical nutrient requirements of the rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus : co-limitation by sterols and amino acids
1. It has been proposed that growth and reproduction of animals is frequently limited by multiple nutrients simultaneously. To improve our understanding of the consequences of multiple nutrient limitations (i .e. co-limitation) for the performance of animals, we conducted standardized popUlation growth experiments using an important aquatic consumer, the rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus. 2. We c...
متن کاملEvaluation of Yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Algae Chlorella vulgaris as Diet for Rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus
A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and algae Chlorella vulgaris on the production of rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus. The Brachionus calyciflorus were cultured using four different types of diets: fresh Chlorella vulgaris (T1), yeast with fresh Chlorella vulgaris (T2), powder Chlorella vulgaris with fresh Chlorella vulgaris (T3) and yeast with powder ...
